Kores entered the Foundry industry in 1978 with a simple yet ambitious goal of becoming entirely customer-focussed. Working towards this, are two manufacturing units: Pefco and Chakan, located at Pune. They offer a flexible and secure supply to customers ? customer engagement ? with a collaborative approach to adopting new technologies in the field. The management is continuously aiming to improve the quality of our products by streamlining processes and regularly upgrading the infrastructure.

A quick look at the Foundry division’s progress timeline:

1984: Ventured into SG Iron

1992: Expanded the SG Iron facility

1997: Established a second facility at Chakan

2006: Rising demands met by a state-of-the-art plant which doubled its production

2012: Added an imported moulding machine at Pefco to cater to specific requirements of small weight castings for esteemed customers

The Foundry Division distinguishes itself by its high-level performance in Ductile Iron Castings because of its teamwork, meticulous quality control, production capacity, skilled technicians and high-end equipment. Owing to this, Kores also collaborative works with customers for value-added Value Engineering to successfully develop and produce castings using the green sand process in a cost-effective manner. The division also has a rich experience in the production of centrifugal castings and chilled shell moulded castings which are used in high power and performance engines.

The division has several in-house capabilities including 3D Modeling, Solidification Simulation and Metallurgical Physical Chemical Laboratory with non-destructive testing facilities.

The division’s success can be measured by its overall production which stands at 36,000 tonnes per annum and has earned the facilities a certification of M/s. TUV NORD for ISO/TS 16949:2009. Additionally, Pefco is certified for M/s. American Bureau Shipping for casting used in marine applications and Chakan ? M/s. TUV NORD for AD 2000 Merkblatt W0 TRD 100 for producing Ductile Iron Castings of 40.3. grade.

The unit at Pefco is the first in India to indigenously develop valve seat inserts and valve tappets as per the specifications of Daimler Benz, Germany ? for M/s. Tata Motors Ltd, India. Pefco is also a pioneer in developing locomotive Cylinder Liners as per the specifications of Alco, USA ? for Indian Railways.

The division also supplies their products to various Indian OE manufacturers and exports their products to U.S.A., Germany, Spain, Japan, Argentina, France, Korea etc.
