The Origins

In the year 1932, when Mr. Wilhelm Koreska opened an office in erstwhile Calcutta, little did he know that he was laying the foundation for one of the biggest business conglomerates in the country. Over the next four years, Kores (India) Pvt. Ltd. was incorporated and by 1956, the Indian operations were taken over by Shri Krishnalal Thirani, Founder Chairman of Kores (India) Pvt. Ltd. today. Operating mainly in Kolkata and Mumbai, Kores gained reputation for its range of stationery products.

While stationery remained at the heart of Kores’ business, there were several strategic opportunities for the company to grow and diversify. As the driving force behind the organisation, Mr. K.L. Thirani led Kores to realise his vision of creating a world-class enterprise that would add sustainable value to India’s economy. Since the early years, Kores has expanded and evolved vastly to become one of the country’s most trusted and respected brands by consistently delivering high quality products and services.
